So I've been reading as much as I can on here, great resource! I was wondering what you guys do on your 34 reset? Are you allowed to drive to a lake, beach or go visit friends if they are close? What considered close? Do you have to hang around a truck stop? Thanks, E
You can do most anyrhing once you learn to plan your trips. You control where your going to be location wise. When I was OTR I normally tried to stay away from truckstop.
On my 34hr I usually cut the grass, weed-eat, fix/maintain the family vehicles, wash/polish my peter, and then lay around and relax/go out and do stuff with the wife.
A lot also depends on your carrier. If you are allowed to use the bobtail as a personal conveyance (off duty driving) there are a lot of options. If not the truck cannot move during the reset. You can move but the truck can't. Me personally, I spent a lot of my reset time learning. I scoured the net for info on the industry, watched webinars, read books, and prepared myself for getting my own truck which was my goal.
Depends. I have gone camping, vegged at the house. Slept the entire 34, gone shopping. This is my first 34 reset on the road so I stopped at Twin Falls and went to do some shopping and also took some pictures.
i am like some others here. i am home daily, as well as on the weekends. so my "more than" 34 hour reset i get to do all the things that a home owner has to do. as for OTR drivers, you can still do what you want, with-in reason. you still DO NOT want to be "night-clubbing" by taking your truck with you and get nailed for a DUI or something. so hopefully you can find things to do with-in walking distance of the truck stop. Vegas comes to my mind, when i had time to "relax"...when i was OTR.
I should have made this clear in my first post. I'm talking OTR drivers. I'm glad you wash your peter, but telling us you polish it, well is a little more information than I need!
