I don't know if this is the right place for this thread, but if it is not then I have faith in the admins to move it (seriously, you guys are great)

    I thought about this earlier

if I wanted to buy a limo as a POV and operate it as such, park it in my driveway, drive it to/from walmart, drive to/from work, etc. Do I have to get my own authority and an MCC number and have a Chauffeurs license to drive it (I already have a CDL so that might be a moot point, but lets pretend I don't)

No POV use is not regulated by DOT.

Think of it this way... whatever you licence (register) it for, is what it is. If you wanna buy a Cascadia & use it for a personal vehicle, register it for that & its a personal vehicle. If you want it to be a Taxi, register it as such & its a taxi. Now, there are limitations.... I dont think you would be able to register it as a bus... because, well, its not a bus. But I think you get what I'm sayin.
If you register it as a CMV, then its a CMV..

you only need DOT numbers etc, if your going to use it as a CMV. You could actually register it as a private vehicle & pull a travel trailer with it & you dont need a CDL... cause its not a CMV... its a private vehicle.

Its the same principal as buying a one ton pick up truck. It can be registered as either a CMV or a private vehicle & use it for either. If its a CMV, you need a CDL & DOT numbers etc... if its a private vehicle, you dont need a CDL or DOT numbers etc..

It's just a plain car. You don't need to do anything special.

Don't need any of that stuff unless you are "For Hire". A buddy of mine has an old limo. We Chauffeur each other around just for laughs. He took my Daughter to Graduation too.
