I just recently got back into trucking. I have 20 years flatbed experience. I took a job working for a company driving regional and am only out 1 to 2 nights a week I average around 2000k a week. I was given a brand new 2022 international rh that only I have ever drove. They also frequently give me cash bonuses of a few hundred dollars. Here's the thing I have my own authority and dot number both dating back to 2005. They have clean ratings. I still have connections on freight paying top rates coming out of my area. Are these great rates going to hold out long enough to be worth giving up my job now and investing in a truck at top prices they are bringing now or should I just keep doing what I'm doing with no headaches and plenty of home time. The freight I would be hauling with my own truck would require me to stay out 3 come home a few days maybe a week and go back yall know how that works.
If you are making $2k a week as a company driver and they treat you decent. Why the heck would you leave that?
Last truck I had was a fl classic series 60 Detroit. Only experience I've had with this new emissions stuff is with the truck I'm driving it has the international a26 and 12 auto. I will say I've been converted on the auto trans, I never thought I would say that but I've grown to love it. I make more miles simply because it's so easy to drive. Simply put its one less thing to worry about and that makes a difference on that 13th hour in the upper end of your 70.
I’m not so sure I could go back as a company driver. Unless maybe I work for the company your talking about. Sounds like they are good to you. Being out 1 or 2 nights and making 2000.00 pretty good money. Brand new truck too. Idk I’d probably wait it out and see what the prices of trucks do.
Yea that's the way I'm leaning but your right nothing like doing it on ur home. I also never have to tarp don't even have them with me. I run my ### off tho.
