I just got one of these great cbs the cobra 29 classic and I also got a Wilson 5000 with a perfect 1.0 tune which the tech was super suprized because he don't have to do anything to it. But the tech was really cool guy hooked me up my cobra is putting out around 14 or 15 watts which is better than 4 but I'm looking for more and was wondering what I should do?

get rid of it since it is outside of the FCC allowable limit for power.

You want to get out better or receive better, get better antenna.

If you want more power output get a linear. Couple hundred watts ought to do just fine.

If you want it to live a long long time then leave it as is for now or get it turned back down and get a linear amp.

You can get an rfx 75 put on it but there are alot of mixed feelings about the longetivity of the radio afterward.

    just food for thought.

I have my ham radio license as well.

    http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/citizens-band-cb-service

CB Radio is considered 11m. Ham radio has a similar band on the 10 M wavelength.

You have a lot more options with the ham radio for different powers, uses and radios. And it only costs $15 for taking your ham radio test. Get your general and you can enjoy the 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 30, 40, 60, 75/80 and 160 m HF bands.

HAM radio falls under part 97 regulations.

CB radio falls under part 95 regulations.

They frown upon it when you mix the two.

People can and do get fined for violating the regs and it can get spendy.

It includes a link to the actual FCC case too.

My one friend sayed get a 2 pill amp but I have no idea what that is. I'm not trying to have like a 1000 watts but 100 or 200 would be nice so I can talk to every one I hear because like half the people I try to talk to I can hear them fine but I can't transmit that far.

Lots of people have HAM licenses some even know how to use a HAM radio.

Since a Cobra 29 is not a ham radio and does not need a HAM license
what is your point ? Is it that only CERTIFIED radios are CB radios or
every once and a while the FCC gets lucky and catches someone ....
