Here is my issue I have 3 trucks 2 of them will be used for hauling logs. The 3rd one is a 99 Century class I'm trying to figure out how to make money with this truck. I was thinking chip hauling or something local here in Texas. Any ideas ?
How about leasing it with one of the oilfield haulers(Acme, Ace, Venture) and hiring a driver to drive it. We (Acme) have terminals all over Texas and I do pretty well with it. The rates are around $4+++.
It is best to have your own but if you dont they will gladly rent you one for a cool $300 a wk and for that price you could easily buy you one. But if you do rent one they just deduct it from the truck settlement. On the other hand I know a few who rent them just to right it off on taxes as an expense.
99% oilfield everynow and then you get some oddball thing but not often. Yeah mostly all good execpt for a few customers with contracts that pay really cheap, but you dont have to haul those loads if you dont want. All in all even the cheap load pay pretty well. And yeah 100% fuel surcharge to the truck.
No different terminals have more work than others. It depends on the location of the terminal and what customers are in the area of the terminal. Terminals do share work though. And Acme does have a logistics deparment that spreads work around.
