Dyno print-out for a 2001 12.7 Series 60 470/430hp with 1,300,000 on the odometer:

RPM
MPH
cHP
inH2O

1301
52.9
342
3.0

1407
57.3
360
3.8

1499
61.0
374
4.9

1605
65.3
372
5.0
69.2
363
5.4

Abbreviated ECM report shows 1,300,000 miles total, 200,000 trip, a 6.5 mpg lifetime average, 44,000 hours, 46% idle time, 37% cruise.

What should I be looking for? The "corrected" horsepower seems low if it is supposed to be corrected to crank horsepower. If it is just corrected for weather, then it is showing a 13-14% loss through the drivetrain which seems reasonable. But it seems strange that power peaked at 1500 when the dyno paperwork indicates this engine is rated at 430hp @ 2100rpm. I assume that the 470hp setting is only active under cruise? How much blowby should I expect. Does the "trip" mileage typically indicate an inframe? This truck is at a dealership and there is no other documentation...

Did they not show your torque? The HP isnt bad for a 430, a little low if you actualy got the 470

How is that at all relevant?

Its not un common for motors to reach peak torque way lower then the spec says. The ley is fining the sweet spot, or happy medium between max Hp and max torque. Having Hp without torque is not showing the whole picture.

Torque is just a derivative of power & RPM -- the equation is Torque (lb-ft) = Power (hp) * 5252 / rpm... So the dyno print out would read:

RPM
MPH
cHP

i totally forgot about that formula, but yea, you can convert hp and rpm to torque.

Those are pretty huge gaps in rpm. My dyno report shows aprox 10 rpm increments.

That being said, with a 470hp i hit 1450 torque to the wheels so it looks a little low in yours, but we dont have fine rpm increments or a large rpm range. I hit peek torque at only 1200 RPMS which is missing from your dyno. I hit peek HP at 1700 rpms, not 2100. I'm guessing they didn't activate the 470 hp because your Hp is low for a 470. Its hard to say if this a good motor or not because were missing data and are not sure if they activated to 470 on your split HP. Out of 430, its not bad, but out of 470, its kind of low. Was this motor 1650 torque rated? if so torque is low but id really need to see 1200 rpms to know for sure.

It looks tired. I'd be more concerned about the blow-by numbers. Less than 1" is good, 2" on ACERT CAT due to the twin turbo.

Keep looking or get them to take $15,000 off the asking price for the in-frame you'll be purchasing. Somewhere else, hopefully.

Are you sure that is inH2O & not inHg? 5 inH2O = 0.37 inHg = 0.18 psi

I couldn't find anything for the series 60, but apparently a new/rebuilt isx is supposed to be under 12 inH2O (0.88 inHg) when new and 18" (1.3 inhg) when worn. http://boatmanuals.tpub.com/TM-55-1905-223-24-5/TM-55-1905-223-24-50055.htm

You're probably right. I found that when I got my T-600 dyno report before buying. Don't remember where i saw it, and can't find that dyno report either.
