What would be the best thing to haul for a new driver?

I'am a student driver and i hear all kinds of storys about what to haul and what not to haul,but i want to know the right thing to pull with my experience at less than 2 months. I just don't want to bite off more than i can chew, especially with flat-bed hauling.

 

Whatever they tell you to haul.

You aren't going to be able to pick your loads as a new driver.

 

Dry Van. Learn the basics then when you feel more comfortable...try flat bed, tanker, reefer or whatever your interested in.

 

anything they tell you to haul that will legally scale out under 80,000 lbs.
Are you starting out pulling flatbed?

 

yes, but i'am not sure if i'am ready or if i'am trained enough yet.

Whatever flatbed company you go with will train you how to secure the loads that they haul.

You aren't their first new driver.

You were asking about an automatic in your other thread. And you mention flatbed in this post. Either BTC or Maverick. You will be fine at either. Come on over to the Flatbed Forum and hang out with the Cool Kids.

 

1.5 months mainly reefer and some dry van.

 

If you're taking your first flatbed job anywhere, you'll be out with a trainer for a while. If you go with Maverick, Melton or System Transport, you're going to learn how to tie down and run your equipment responsibly and your trainer will help you cut your teeth. The same goes for reefers, dry vans or tankers. I can't think of any companies, who hire fresh from school, who'd hand you a truck plus an oversize load and send you off with a hearty, "Go get 'em, Tiger!" That'd be career suicide for you and a hydrogen bomb to their CSA score.

Once you have some miles and experience under you, you can ask to train with more complicated loads.
