I would lease purchase only because I have income that pays the bills plus a little more. If a couple settlements won't break break me or take from the family. Now if driving was my only income no way on God's green earth I would lease. The wife and I bank everything from driving, we are saving up for land, house and, wood working shop and pay cash. I am a Montana native who's been gone 15 years and I am going back.
JCT is a refeer outfit as well as a long haul company also. If you like to take weekends off you won't make it here.
Not sure if i agree with that statement lol.. Your success has more to do with how well you budget/manage your time and money personally and business wise. 90% of my hometime was on the weekends. I had a fun run for over 8 years there. I left in pursuit of wanting more control and my business. JCT Kept my family and I happy and well fed for a number of years.
JCT offers a very simple lease. All costs are covered except fuel and maintenance. Follow the pm schedule, fix minor problems as they occur, and let the industry leading warranty cover everything else. No balloon payments, no hidden costs, no b.s. It doesn't get more straightforward than that. It's not hard to succeed at JCT. Imo, it's harder to fail then succeed. Manage your biggest expense, which is fuel, and you'll do just fine here
10% interest isn't high at all. Considering there's no money down and a walk away lease, there's no reason not to succeed
Can you describe how you manage your fuel costs as a lease driver? I've only been a company driver and they told me where to fuel or just paid the bill wherever I fueled up. "getting fuel" always just mean filling the tanks. I am wandering in circles trying to decide what to do next after being a company driver since 1994. I don't know should I go reefer with a company out West (Jim Palmer), go do flatbed so that someday I can be O-O at Mercer, use my savings and lease a truck through Schneider Finance and work on their load board, or just try and get happy at my current job working on the clock and home every night where I am bored after 18 years. Reading up on JCT seems like a good alternative between company driver and easing into Lease-Op and then Owner-Op.
Everyone does it differently. I basically use apps to find the cheapest fuel on my route and will buy that. I never fuel on Thursdays unless I'm on a new load but that's me. Learn how your truck runs and MPG and you can get a good estimate of fuel needed. Good part is if you ever have questions many of us will give you our numbers to text or call. Also don't quit 2 months in as you are still learning it can take 6 months to find your groove if you hhave never had to plan etc. Heck I have run 5 successful business and it still took me a few months to get out of company driver mode.
