I don't like paying for WIFI at truck stops, so I was looking into getting a smartphone or tablet with 3 or 4G. But I was disappointed to find out those would cost me at least 100 bucks a month. What is the best and affordable way to have internet access so I can watch hulu or netflix?

Streaming netflix or hulu will use lots of data quickly, so unless you have an unlimited plan, youll only be able to watch a few movies a month. Best to stick with wifi.

Sprint is one of the only carriers left that offers unlimited data usage on some of their plans, and their coverage sucks, believe me, I know. The truckstops wifi connection speeds are not adequate to do what you want either, unless you are inside sitting close to the server.

Unless you were grandfathered in under some other carrier plan that has unlimited data usage, you are stuck with truckstop wifi, or, paying out the wazoo for the kind of broadband usage you need to stream Netflix, etc.

AT&T & Verizon have the best mobile broadband coverage and speeds out there. Get ready to bend over though :)

If you plan on getting a 4G smartphone, i recommend using Verizon because they have the largest network. I have "Double Data" and i am paying for 5GB, totalling 10GB plus 2GB for the hotspot feature, allowing me to use a total of 12GB per month for $70. Youll be able to watch an occasional low quality video. Dont expect to watch a high quality videos every other night.

I have verizon. But I registered thru and bought my phone at the Verizon section at Target. I hook my Verizon phone to my laptop and watch movies thru Netflix. All for eighty bucks a month. If I went to a verizon store for the same phone and package, it woulda been $160.

foxfi doesn't come with the data cap. it's your plan that does.
