I drive past UPS nearly ever day in Nashville. Lots of Swift trailers at the yard. Many have been there for days.

So if you need a trailer? Many may be leased to UPS for the season. :biggrin_25525:

I was at UPS in Louisville a couple weeks ago and was bs'ing with the guys in the office there. Turns out they have hundreds of brand new Swift trailers that have been piling up for the last few months. He said Swift is sending them right from Indiana as soon as they are made and UPS is leasing them for Christmas rush. Also from what I have heard a lot of MS and T trailers have been sold to them outright. Actually I heard all, but I know they are still out there. Got that info from the shop in Gary where they were fixing them up before sending them over to UPS.

Yep I did see some of thos "wonderful" T trailers over there too. I saw a couple Ultralite or Featherlite trailers.

I went to Wabash once and hauled a brand new trailer all the way to a Cabela's DC along the MS river in Wisconsin.

Yea, that preloaded trailer you're supposed to pu for your next load...
    Think again.
Be ready to get there and told - nope, we didn't have any mt's to load.
And of course you were sent there bobtail....(or dropped an intermodal)
    2 hours waiting on CSR...
Then get sent 200 miles roundtrip to get an mt.
    Then 3 hrs liveload.
Happened to 5 of us this morning.
    Gaaaaaahh!!

This time of year a lot of customers use trailers as storage, will be tough until Feb. or so. Happens at a lot of the carriers with really BIG accounts. Been this way for as long as I can remember, another reason I don't like this time of year.

T are the old, usually wooden walled, non-Duraplate trailers that
are numbered starting with a "T".
Even older are the MS Carrier trailers.
A number of shippers won't accept either.
Common problems are tandems that are very difficult to slide,
    banged up doors, and holes.

What do the "good" trailers start with?
