Looking for a good company, with miles. My current company sounded too good to be true and they are. I can't get the miles.

Generally the best companies to work for have fleets with 25 to 50 trucks and are private carriers that haul products for the manufacturing companies that own them,,there are larger and small good companies but generally private carriers are better places to work for. Home more often

I dont know why you guys keep thinking smaller companies are better. I workked for a local carrier with 60 trucks. Pay .32 no matter what experience and health insurance sucked. 12,000 deductible before it payed anything so I left for another small company in Chattanooga. We are a processor of steel like Percision strip. We have 20 trucks and I am out and back in a week. Yes benefits are good but pay is percentage and sucks with all the deadhead we do. So I average 750-850 a week bring home and they don not have any drivers

back when anything happens. Our paychecks reflect we are paid hourly at 13.50hr so trying to finance anything is a nightmare. I am currently on short term disability due to injury. I injured myself last Sep.and dispatcher was told but I didnt go to doc so he said he would file it in my file so if I did have issues latter they could file it. Well I hurt it agan 3 weeks ago at home and required surgery. Dispatch tells me he has no idea what I was talking about and had nothing in my file so I had to eat this. My from my experience small companies suck

I worked for Maverick and absolutly loved it. Insurance was a little rough as far as weekly cost and no copays but they did what they said and would bend over backwards to help you on anything. If I could find another company like them with better health insurance, I would be on that like a fatboy at the Golden Corral desert bar.

Might check out Hoge! Not sure of their benefits but the recruiter was extremely nice when I spoke with her. Just didn't have enough experience for them. Flatbed from Springfield, Tn.
