Wont hit the news yet but this dudes truck burned to the ground while i was inside taking a shower. Apparently he left it doing a regen and went inside. Ended up damageing the truck next to him. Guy was parked and sleeping when it caught. And it melted his hood pretty good though he was able to put it in drive and move before anything serious happened. Feel bad for the burning trucks owner, i do. but really?

I'm no diesel mechanic, but I dare say something else was the matter before this tractor entered a regeneration.

Most likely yes, but watching the vids it was smoking from the stacks and said smoke was getting thicker and thicker for a solid 10 mins before it caught fire. If he had turned it off or finished the regen before walking away he would still have an issue. But not a bonefire.

Regardless let it be a lesson. Never leave a truck running unattended.

With my luck, I'd put the fire out then get fined and put out of service for having an under-charged fire extinguisher.

I’ve never had a truck do a full on full heat regen while parked, even coming in off the road it’s kicked off and idling normal by the time I park. My current truck will go to 1000rpm and do a warm up to get the condensation out, usually after idling 4-5 hours.

Well... really, if your truck catches fire, and you have to put it out with your extinguisher....you deserve to be out of service if you then drive that medium-rare truck anywhere.

I’m new to this regen thing. It sucks. I’m stuck right now, waiting. It’s been regenerating for 1 hr. 45 minutes. Screen said particulate filer close to full, regen available. Glad I’m on the clock. Extra long lunch break tonight. Lol

I had a small fire in Phoenix in 2011. I used up mine. I had to go to the TA West of Phoenix and get the trailer fixed. While there my company helped me buy another one. Many drivers keep a 2nd one onboard.
