Now I will say upfront that I am no verterian, but come on there has got to be (no matter how small) some good to some companies. I know that they look out for number one and we all have to step in number two it seems like. Let's put up the good for experienced driver and newbies alike. Maybe then other companies will take note of what we want and what we are looking for.

    The good?

O.k.---"The Good" thing about this industry, is, you are not obligated nor forced to join it.
Another "good" thing is; if you DO join it, and something pops up where you can get out....you can get out.

Other than that, I can't think of any thing.

You wannabies kill me. You can read, and read, and read about all the bad things, and even BEG to hear some good things because you don't see enough of it.
And when we are incapable of providing you with "good things"....you don't take that to heart. YOU JUMP IN WITH BOTH FEET AND HOPE THAT THINGS ARE DIFFERENT FOR YOU.

The "good thing" is; I drive local and get paid by the hour. And unless you drive through my area, I will never meet you. Don't get any better than that!

I'm a wannabe.. I'm actually changing careers to get out of my deadend logistics job. Tired of the crap and being trapped between gray walls and brown boxes.. I already know that when starting I won't have good pay, or seniority or much of anything as a greenhorn but the reasons why I choose truck driving to be my final career is because of what it offers.. I feel that to really enjoy this profession, it has to be in your blood/soul. You have to have a passion for moving these trucks and moving America! Truck drivers are overlooked more then any other profession it seems and yet w/o drivers this country would halt! But like I said, things aren't perfect so there's always bad.. I think what White dog is saying is, everyone has good and bad in their careers but the only way someone can truly find GOOD in all this is to actually just do it OR have that good reason for doing it to begin with.

If you want to see the good stuff, either peruse the "Favorite Company" forum or go to the "DAC Report" of each company in the "Inside Scoop" forums.

The forum you have chosen to ask this question in is set aside for people who want to b****....whether it's warranted or not.

You are correct, and yet, we are just dollar signs to the Department of Transportation. A change in venue will be good.

These days, the whole industry is changing. Again. So many new rules and regs.

Boggles my mind how many guys buy a truck and don't know the first thing about the industry. Then they are SHOCKED! they're not making money.

The good thing about trucking? You can make money, if you know what you are doing. You can take time off, be your own boss, etc.

The really good thing about trucking? People who are bad with money don't last long.
