thinkin of coming back to knight, and looking at this zonar system makes me nervous. do u have to scan those stupid scan points with every pti? has it improved at all? lookin for more info before i jump in
They use Zonar at my job with the County... to be honest, I'm in two different minds about it... on the one hand, it pushes you to actually do a pre-trip... on the other, all of our drivers and EOs just halfass it, and don't actually inspect anything.. they just scan the points... most of them have it down to a science where they don't even have to look at them. Don't know about Knight... someone else will have to answer that question. But if dealing with the Zonar is too much for you, I'd have to ask the question of, do you even pretrip, bro?
i pretrip. but scanning those rediculous points? just another way for them to micromanage us. and what about in bad weather?
Thank those who came before you. Stuff like this is typically done as a reactive measure, not a proactive one.
When you are at a truckstop and getting ready to roll in the morning, how many times do you really see a driver doing a proper and thorough pretrip? Not all that much, from what I see. Yes the Zonar is still in effect with Knight and it's a good idea. The navigation and elogs portion of it are not so good, as there are lots of addresses that are not in the database, as well as new routes and highways. The elogs portion crashes all the time. The Qualcom MCP200 is clearly a better system in my opinion.
The pipps are all in areas you should be checking reguardless of the weather. I'm sorry but your truck is not going to wait until its 72 and clear skys to give you a issue. Get your lazy arse out of the truck and check it. It could save a life.
Works fine, I live in the NWest it rains here alot. Im told the tablet is water resistant but just like my phone I take steps to help protect it as much as I can. Overall the Zonar system has come along way from what it used to be and the new tablet they are rolling out should fix alot of our complaints. But only time will tell.
