I ran a day cab years ago for one customer we had at the old company. I hated the #### thing.
I hauled towaway mobile plants. Some lots were so small could not get into them.
Then some places were just plain nasty...
I had to get a taxi a couple of times.
no place to lay down and take a nap while waiting for different loads.
    Thanks but no thanks

Get held up once at a customer for 10+ hours and let me know how comfortable that day cab was.... Sleeping upright would suck.

run in isolated areas, and finding a hotel/motel is impossible. And finding someone to open up in a small town at 3am is dangerous....lol. I ran day cab from Ontario to B.C. doing tanker.
Running interstate is ok, provided it isn't snow bird season, nascar race near by, or a road closure. And why is it a delivery that I'm early too, never has a motel around for miles and miles? A why did I always get the room over the bar or the kitchen, or beside the stairs, with a soccer team in town?
just some of the things I remember from the day cab days.

Now hauling cars, it was a route and had known spots, and it all worked out great.

I've read where some fellas would put a board between the seats and some bedding to lay on. LOL.

    It might work.

Oh, trust me, it works! Just takes a while to get the kinks worked out in the morning and too many nights in a row gets old pretty quick!
