Just curious, but why isn't the dealer's insurance covering this? Or is that what the causation expert is for?

It wasn't officially theirs, the salesman had a guy interested in to try to help me get rid of it and get me in a new 780 he has there. He showed it to him and parked it on monday am. The guy was suppose to get back to him today said he was really interested. It was just sitting there yesterday afternoon and poof?? Other than that I haven't got a clue, I'm on my way there now it's an hour from my house to there, I'm on vacation for a couple weeks.

I'm thinking whoever is holding the title at the time is the lucky winner.

Insurance company won't just pay top dollar, going to be a pain, but at least you weren't on a rest break when it happened.

Looks like electrical harness above the starter. Engineer needs pics of the same truck in that area but he's pretty sure that's what it was. Any body with a 387 with a c15 should check the wiring in that area for chafing.

Do you know if there was any fuel leaking above that area? Friend of mine had an '05 387 with a C-15 and his caught fire from that. He started up his truck and proceeded to load up his personals ( clothes / food / dog ). He started to smell something burning then noticed smoke coming from under the hood. Since he was in the yard and there were plenty of extinguishers around they got it out. He told me they ( they being insurance or Caterpillar ) determined the cause to be a small fuel leak which ignited when he started the truck.
