i found 2007 columbia with detroit series 60 , 14 ltr .10 speed , with apu and 330,000 miles on the clock. owned by one company and driven by 1 driver .
they have all maintenance records and reports. The only thing that has been changed is turbo v-pad and thats it.
they are asking $47k
i was thinking about offering 39and see what happends ..
what do you guys think??? the mileage is pretty low ...do detroits start breaking down around this milege or what???
I also found one 2005 with 300k miles for about the same $ . Is there much difference between 2005 AND 2007??
what is your guys's experience with columbias and detroits?
is 10 speed going to kill my mpg compare to 13 speed? what can I expect for mpg? around 6 or maybe 7???
what would you guys do????
any of your advice would help. Thank you !!!
more info: its my first truck purchase , pulling dry van all over the place ...
what do you guys think about this truck i found??????????

I drive an 07 century with the 60 series in it and it has been extremely reliable for me. It's got 950,000 on her and still going strong. As far as fuel mileage I can't seem to get better than 5.8. But I was running Canada all winter so I had quite a bit of idle time. The 60 series has awesome torque on the lower end but tends to fall flat on its face going uphill. Being a company truck they have it cut back a bit so you might get better performance out a o/o spec truck

What year is the engine? I have a 2007 Century with a 2006 series 60. So at the end of this year my truck won't be allowed in California. My DD runs great and has about 861k on it. When I first got the truck, with about 220k on it, I was having all kinds of problems but once I hit 400k all the problems seemed to be ironed out.

buddyvuk,
that is a solid deal. I tell you how for less than $500 to get a 1 mpg increase, more power and an awesome, awesome sound. I have a few 14l egr tricks.
Here is an example that is 15k more than you wanted to spend but will in the end not be wore out till after its paid off, instead of buying someone else wore out truck. Much better than any other truck you've posted. IMO.buddyvuk Thanks this. -
I dont think he wants CA.
