Ok, So i have been looking into all kinds of trucks for under $40k.

I came across this one, read everything and give me your pros and cons PLEASE!:biggrin_255:

I like that its 20k , i like that its PRE EGR , and the milege is not to badd.. also its 20 k . maybe offer 16500 or ask for the warranty to be included ..

    http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3940559&dlr=1&pcid=405906

Here is the little background I found out about the truck...

It was owned by brownline , big company ,mainly seafood shipping company in NW ,about 50-70 trucks. all of their loads out where heavy but coming back medium to light, NO maintenance records :( i guess did all the maintenance on time ( per salesman) . I called the shop in Mt Vernon Washington and waiting for call back from manager. I am also going to find out how many drivers drove it..
I called freightliner and they said its 2002 PRE EGR engine of course and nothing showing up in computer.
If I did like the test drive and truck I was going to run ecm and dyno check .

what do you guys think? DO you have experience with 12.7 L ? running dry van over the road I was hoping to get at least 6.5 mpg. Wishful thinking?

Skip the truck and put your money in energy stocks paying 6-8% dividends.... you'll end up better off in the long run

when was that photo taken???? see the dates on the air cleaner? Think maybe it's been a while since it was serviced?

Tell the salesman you'll give him 12 k...if he balks, walk.

    Good hunting

people keep sayhing there are better deals out there. but no one says where.

in the year i've been some what shopping. prices are starting to go up.

last year i looked at paccar financial. they had 08's with 400k miles going for $40g, 10% down. that's been the best deal i've found so far. so, might be worth looking into if there's one around you somewhere.

you can also look at the trucks shcneider has for sale. they have plenty of newer models with less miles for that price.

Why do you want to buy a truck? With fuel so high and rates so low:confused:

I always find it funny when people in an industry tell others not to get into it. :biggrin_2559:

Got enough set aside , after buying it , or putting in a good down payment , to pay for an overhaul , or a tranny or rear ? And being off for that long ?
Otherwise , keep looking. Paccar is good. I could mention some others .
Maintaince is key . But , it's not everything. Still , no records , no buyee .
Cool your jets . There are always good deals . If it feels Right , do it. Otherwise , keep looking.
    Good Luck !
