| Tires?? First of all this is my very first post...I've read a lot but I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to.... I've been looking into the trucking industry fairly extensively over the last month or two and I've got a handle on a lot of things such as different engines, transmissions, rear ends, truck brands and models, etc.... But one thing that no one ever really goes into any detail about is tires. My question is how many miles are you guys typically getting out of a set of good tires?? Do you guys have to replace the steers and the drives at different intervals or at the same time?? Stupid question but nobody has ever talked about it.....Do you have to rotate the tires?? Or are they on and thats it?? I'm the type of guy that looks for the quality and if I have to pay a little more so be it...what are the best tires to buy for more mileage and durability...kind of the same thing, I know. I read a little about the X-One or the super single format?? They supposedly save you a little fuel mileage...is that true?? I do know that they save on weight but they are more expensive to spec out. Do they last as long and or longer....or not?? I'm really trying to put together a realistic budget because I want to know if this could be a long term carrer or if I should find something else. I've always loved trucks ever since I was kid. Always wanted to drive one and now I'm seriously considering it and think I would like to be an owner operator. Any advice you can give me would be awesome and greatly appreciated. You guys are awesome and have great advice. Take care and god bless. |

| drive for a few years then worry about becoming an o/o get the experiance and deciede if this lifestyle is for you, better to screw up in someone elses truck than yer own the tires that are good today might not be the best in 3 years, as for highway singles....some like them, some do not....kinda like the manual , automatic debates and yes you rotate the tires....steers seem to last longer than drives and they are never cheap |
