get your own! got to the FMCSA website, it will walk you through it. it is really simple (cost is $300). Join OOIDA, they will provide your BOC (service of process) for free, if you not you will pay upwards of $100, you can also get a drug testing program from them as well. OOIDA will also provide insurance pretty cheap if you have 2 years recent expierence and a good driving record (I had no recent expierence, got insurance through progressive).
Tell the insurance company to file the proper forms with the FMCSA (they should know what to do). And thats it! Takes 2-3 weeks from the time your insurance is submitted. Get a truck and a trailer, Get your base plate, get your IFTA permit. When your authority comes through start workin! -
they know how to get their authority. They are trying to get around dealing with these brokers wanting a 6 mo history on the authority. at least I think that's why
-
Yes trying to explore any and all options. -
As I have posted on other forums. There are VERY few companys that require 6 months. I have never, ever had a problem finding freight.
I hit my six months on sept 27, you can buy mine for $50,000. I would like to upgrade my truck, then spend another 300 bucks and get another authority and stay just as busy. -
You're not very nice are you? Do you think anyone is interested in your smart ##### responses? So, because you haven't had any issues with brokers wanting 6mths, that means it's the rule and not the exception? Maybe it's cause you're dealing with low class brokers that don't care (it would be suiting for the trucks they are apparently hiring). Do us all a favor go find that rock and crawl under it. -
OK so here a question. I don't have authority to run under and was planning on getting my own next year. What about running under someone elses while you let yours get the six months in? Then revert back to your authority?
-
Yes, the 6 month rule is the exception not the rule.
I am actually a really nice guy and would advise anyone considering going out and getting there own authority to take control of their lives and go out and do it. -
Let me clarify a little bit on my last question. When I drove last, we hauled our own product back into PA but we didn't have authority to run anything else, so we would do trip-leases to haul product out so we could run our own stuff back in. So why couldn't you run under someone else's authority to haul the loads that require 6 month's in business? All we had to do was cover up our name on the door with the trip lease info.

Let me get out from under my rock:
That would work. But it is not necessary. I think you should try and find work under your authority first, I dont think you will be disappointed.Curious1 Thanks this.
