oh.... i dont know if you can.... i haven't used a Wilson whip... But... that part between the magnet and the antenna... is their a screw or can you loosen it and raise or lower the antenna? if so thats how.

if your antenna is set and you cant move it, their is another way an "antenna matcher" some SWR meters have them built in, but you then have to leave the meter inline all the time. They are small "boxes" with two knobs, you pretty much turn them till you get your SWR real low. makes the job So very easy. I had an swr of 2.5 across all bands. i did a little bit and got it just under two, used an antenna matcher, and i could have it anywhere from 1.5 to 3.+ So obviously i put it at 1.5 i put a pre amp in, and i could then tune it down to 1.1, deff worth a shot. If you have trouble finding one, i might be up for selling one of mine, but like i said sometimes you can find them cheap.

Try looking on ebay some go for 20, you might get one cheaper, i know i have, ive also scored at garage sales and such.

I use exactly that antenna on my motorcycle, and have had good use out of it with a handheld cobra CB with a Push to talk adapter for my helmet. Didnt know you could program it!

Yes you can raise and lower the whip! Which way do I go to get it lower on the bottom half?

To adjust the SWR so it will be better on the lower channels (1,2,3,4 etc.) raise the whip slightly. Keep checking the SWR on channel 40 as you go up , as you raise the whip the SWR on Ch. 40 will get higher as the SWR on channel 1 gets closer. With the short whip on a Little Will ; MOVE IT ONLY IN 1/4 in. AT A TIME ! That SWR will get squirrely if you move the whip too much !
What you are trying to do is get the SWR about the same on 1 & 40 that should put you dead center in the "sweet spot ".

Keep us updated, although, im not sure if a 1/4 is is even small enough on a short antenna like that, you may have to move it in smaller increments, but hey, thats a trial and error type thing anyway.

ok, well you gotta keep trying different positions till you get one, and if you cant, you should try replacing the coax.
