Help with antenna choice

Any of you radio gu-ru's that could help me out here, running an 07 volvo with a cobra 29 classic. Trying to get a good set up just wondering what would be the best antenna for a volvo pulling 53 vans around. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I also heard the bird perch mount for the volvos helps get you a better ground, anyone know about that?

Look into a Wilson antenna

Hey Brinkj23, I have a Cobra 29 hooked up to a single Wilson 2000 antenna and it provides great performance both in transmitting and receiving. I have been using the Wilson for approx 2 years and have not had any problems thus far, it is a little pricier than most other antennas sold in the truck stops but for me I think has been a good investment. Seen them run anywhere from 60.00 to 70.00 dollars depending on the various truck stops. I'm sure there are many good ones out there but think for performance and durability Wilson antennas are worth the bucks. Good luck.

I run a Wilson 5000 Trucker, and it is by far the best antenna I have ever used. I have NEVER herd a bad report about a Wilson antenna.

Well I suggest looking threw this forum section and reading post previously made on the subject of antennas... You could use the advance search option, type in antenna, the select CB radio section to specifically search this section and not the entire forum... You will find some very detailed information that has been posted on all types of antennas and setups... I have made a few post of my own, so look them up and get some great info..

Best antenna on the Market...."Predator 10K"

The SW Dual Coil Predator 10K, was designed just for Big Rig Mirror Mounts...Here is what one looks like mounted...at just 48" tall, it's perfect for mirror mounts.

Is the Volvo a Condo? If so then you will need a tall antenna.

I also hate the looks of them open coil antennas and there are many reports by serious CBrs that say these expensive open coil antennas are no better then any other antenna on the market.

Think so? Next time you hear DX rolling in...If you can manage to make a contact with someone, just ask them what antenna their using...

Or next time your cruising threw Dallas...Give me a holler, and you can hear first hand the difference..."Hearing is beleiving"...

I have been into radios since the early 70's, and have ran just about every type of antenna there is, and although I do agree with you, the Open Coil antenna's may-not look good on every vehicle, but guess it boils down to what is more important to you...Being herd, and being able to pull in those distant stations, or just driving around trying to look important, or cool...

As JJD said them Predator 10k's definitely have the edge. I had the Wilson mags 1000 & 5000 base loaded coils, bought first Predator and Tram Tri Mag Pad 3 years ago..haven't looked back, tuned up easy and rather well too.
