USA

It almost depends on where you live as much as anything. On the other hand you WILL see Canada. I live in the Northeast and was running Canada every few days, meaning a dozen times in 90 days. I also know guys from up here that have yet to go to Canada even after 6 months there.

Hopefuly they make allowances for drivers that have issues that will not legally allow them to drive a cdl vehicle in Canada. I'm waiting for an answer from Canada's Ministry of Public Safety to let me know what the current laws are.If Canada says I can't drive there,I hope Celadon doesn't try to force me to try to enter Canada.I had that problem with Schneider.I had to refuse every load they assigned me to Canada. The way I see it,these carriers know what the law is and they need to respect it.It's not worth the problems that it will cause me to try and enter Canada illegaly. They have my driving history,if it's that important for me to go to Canada then they need to let me know that this will be a problem before I go to orientation. I rather they refuse to hire me now before I go thru all the trouble of taking a bus to orientation just to be told they can't hire me and make me take a bus home again.

Bill had a DWAI from 1989 and he was up front with Celadon right from the start. His first load out of orientation they sent him to British Columbia. He reminded them of his 20 year old offense but they told him to make an attempt. Long story short, he was stuck at the border for over 2 hours, the only reason they let him through was because his drop was 15 minutes away so he got a day pass. He was late for the delivery because of the border situation, held up at the receiver for 10 hours and got no detention pay because he was "late". I think had he been able to run Canada his miles would have been a lot better. If you have something old, trust me-the border people WILL find it.
