I was one of those laid off in December, that week there was 3400 laid off that week alone, and yes I overheard it from a SCM, I was a CSR. I was also at one of the centers that closed, so I transfered to 1 50 miles away just to gt laid off 3 weks later.

I was laid off from CW Freight 1-14-09, I was told today that there may be more lay-offs in the near future, its a scary thing, no-one is hiring out there.

hello everyone, my husband spoke with me last night about him going to school for conway, i believe down in joplin. he mentioned this site which hes been visiting so i thought i'd take some time & research.... hearing about conway laying off scares me being we'd have to take out 1900 out of savings to cover cost. he did mention there was no up front contract. but does this mean he will have a job after school or is he better off with a contract guaranteeing he does have a job after school assuming he does graduate. i dnt expect to be problem being hes ex-military of 7 years, hard working not to mention stubborn in the sense he doesnt give up on things once started. any input would be appreciated he was told school has an opening i believe on the 25th of feb & they need to know soon what we want to do, my biggest concern is,would be the time we'll be apart & will he be able to get the miles to pay the bills, but since hes not working now & was self -employed & not bing able to draw unemployment, anythings better than nothing

I was laid off from Con-Way Freight, if your husband is going to school in Joplin, then he is going to work for Con-Way truckload, thats different, from what I know, truckload is not laying off yet. Good luck out there.
