    allnite: thanks for your response.

True, the CHP is doing their own investigation. Often times these investigations focus almost soley on the the accident scene: measurements, photos, some witness interviews, etc... They often, but not always, do a pretty good job. Also, their reports often take months or more to become available, so I do not have the time to wait on them.

As of a few days ago, I am unaware of whether or not the Alameda Co. DA's office will file charges or not.

My job is to do that and a bit more. I am looking not at just the "how," but the "why" (if possible).

My initial research indicated that Covenant has some major issues. I am looking further into it. If their training is not what it should be and they send a large number of unsafe drivers out onto the roadways across the country, well, that is something I would like to know. And that is why I thought I would go to the people that would REALLY know: you guys.

If the way they use drivers is unethical but economically to their advantage (putting the almighty $ over safety) then obviously that would be of interest to me.

You are right, it was an accident, I doubt there was any specific intent on behalf of anyone to kill that poor guy on the motorcycle. That said, there are surely DEGREES of culpibility, and blame. The driver who accidently drifts just a little into another lane and causes a wreck surely is not as at fault as the driver who tries to driver directly across two lanes of traffic on a busy interstate, and into the gore point to try to save a wrong turn, and then causing a fatal accident.

The ONLY reason I mentioned the driver's ethnicity was out of hope that someone might recognize the driver. If they had knowledge that he was previously reckless, etc... then I was hoping to maybe hear about it. I have no problem with folks from wherever working...as long as it is legal and does not skirt safety issues.

There are NO winners in this one: everyone loses. I am trying to help minimize the impact on the children that will no longer have a father to support them.

I hope this clears up some of your questions: they were all good ones.

    Thanks,
    Jason

THANK YOU Jason for your honest and open reply/rebuttal.I feel as if you are doing the right thing and appreciate you being honest w/the forum.
Lawsuits are are all too common and I was concerned about the obvious one here and voiced those concerns.
If there is something to be exposed i hope you can expose it for the family and our industry.

Tomorrow: covenant will be calling me about the bus tickets for what time at what pick up. I hear some thang about a road test as soon as you get off the bus. Now I think it was "mountian mana" son who is at covenant. said they don't care if you have been up all nite on the bus. I was looking for more input on this road test. It just may be better to show up late. no traffic. But at nite pulling a 53 foot trailor. for a road test. I'll be going on 12/07/09. Looking for info to help with covenant training. any info. Thank you for your time.

I have worked for Covenant for 7 months now.I will say this don't plan on going home during your training EVER!!! As far as a driving test there is nothing to it as long as you do not hit any curbs and don't run your steer tires off the edge of the road you will be fine. You will take your road test Monday or Tue not as soon as you get of the bus.I can tell you one more peace of advice bring money to eat on and have a way to get home in case things don't work out they will leave you stranded. Also during your training keep your head down and your eyes open and your mouth shut just get threw it.Make sure you talk to your trainer before you get on the truck with him if they is a problem get a new trainer before you leave Chattanooga. Its going to be hard but after your first year things get better.Covenant is not a bad place its not the best but if you need training it will do. They don't pay much but nobody does.Just remember head down mouth shut eyes open and get threw the training if there is a problem on week 3 of training and you get off that trainers truck you start all over and believe me when i tell you you do not want to do that.Enjoy the Chattanooga Ritz they put you in and remember the food they serve sucks if you like chinese there is a great place down the road by wal-mart catch the shuttle and go there the waffle house across the road gives a 10 percent discount to covenant as well hope that helps GOOD LUCK driver.

I'm not going to hang my head in shame for working. There is no shame in taking what is there to take and move on to the next part of the plan. Everybody can't be pre madonnas and start at the top. I'm don't a retried trucker, I am a trucker. That has to work to make money. Insted of waiting on the mail man. You should hold your head in shame for posting somethang like that. If you are so quick to point out the wrong. Then be so quick to point out the right. You find me a job.:protest: WE want to work, we need a job. What kind of brother are you. Shame on you! I'm out

My school we did some night driving this week. It is different. Just watch the little red light on the corner of your trailer. If you are doing your test in the city? Lots of light.
