I do see there trucks running US -2 threw the U.P. a lot (Van, flatbed and tanker). Looks like pretty nice equipment and they may have a small drop yard / terminal around the ironwood, mi area. See there trailers there every once and a while. Other then that they have a web site. No online application. Have to print it out and either fax or mail in to them.

I have not been a driver for Jeff Foster, so take this with a huge grain of salt. I would not normally post (lurker), but no one else seems to be able to help you. I work for a trucking company who takes loads from their brokerage dept. and who brokers freight to their trucks. So I do not know, firsthand, how they treat their drivers, but I do know a little about how they operate.

I have always found them to be honest and professional. Their drivers seem happy with their company and they seem to run very good equipment. I know this because if a driver isn't happy with their company, they will usually ask me if we are hiring or will vent to me about their issues. I have not had any Jeff Foster drivers ask me if we are hiring or complain to me. They treat me with respect, which is usually a sign that they are respected. Also, they are reliable to pick up and deliver on time, so that tells me that their drivers are serious and that their equipment is kept up.

I work mostly with their van dispatch/ brokerage, but have used their flatbeds as well. The dispatchers that I have worked with are smart, and there is one in particular who is just about my favorite dispatcher in the world to work with.

Of course, this is just my opinion, based on conjecture, as more of a customer and not a driver. But I have been a driver and I know a driver's perspective on things.

For 'brass tacks,' I can tell you that they use Qualcomm and go to the 48 and Canada (though not with all divisions). I used them mostly in TX, OH, WV, KY, MI, IL, IN and WI. They are an 'out and back' carrier, although I am sure that they do triangles in a pinch. They only take full loads for backhaul, no partials. They do source broker freight (obviously) for backhauls, but they have their own customer backhaul as well. They have a good credit rating, so financials and cash flow are not a problem, as far as I know.

I would rate them as one of the very best carriers that I work with. I know this doesn't answer all of the questions you have, but I hope it helps until a Jeff Foster driver surfaces.

I have not worked for foster but have talked to their drivers and they all seemed happy with them and they never said a bad thing about them.

They mainly run KW's t600,t660 some w9s and some frightliner columbias most of the trucks have apu's. You might want to look a Halvor lines out of supeior as well all their drivers talk well about them as well.

Halvor is fine, too. They just bought Timberline not too long ago and they are bigger than Jeff Foster. I don't think Halvor is quite as together, dispatch wise, and their trucks go to some really tough spots to get out of. Halvor van/reefer also does Conagra, so there are more food headaches to deal with. If either one is hiring, and you are looking, you could do a whole lot worse. If both are hiring, I would give the edge to Jeff Foster. Again, I haven't driven for either one (grain of salt).

Jeff Foster used to pull some Minnesota loads for us. Nice equipment, never heard the drivers complain.
