    1. What is the best internet connection for the truck.

    2. Sirus, or XM?

    3. Do companies have limits for electronics you can bring on the trucks?

    4. Are O/Os only loud connect satelites and is there small device to use in the truck to get satelite or some kind of small connection to be able to receive channels in your cab, or satelite radio, or can company guys have these luxuries too?

    5. Last whats the best cell phone company to carry on the road, for unlimited mins, and stuff like that?

1.) There are wireless cards by both Verizon and Sprint. I have the Verizon and it works fine. Speed varies on the area-but it can be as fast as broadband.

2.) This one depends on the type of content you like. Like Stern, Bubba the Love Sponge, SEC football, and the NFL? Sirius is your choice, hands down. Like Opie & Anthony, Ron & Fez, MLB, PAC-10, Big-10, ACC? XM is the way to go. XM has slightly better sound quality, but neither are "cd quality" or even close. XM also has a great comedy channel.

3.) I've never heard of any limits. I'm sure as long as you're not damaging the truck or causing them FCC problems, you're fine.

4.) Satellite TV (DirecTV/Dish) currently requires the same equipment as you would use at home. This includes an 18" dish and satellite box. The XM/Sirius tuner box will fit under your dash, and the antenna is only about 2"x2" at most.

5.) Verizon is very good in the Southeast where I am. I would say anyone but T-Mobile and Nextel. Nextel has the worst coverage of the large carriers and lots of dropped calls.

    1. I have verizon for net, pretty good, GREAT coverage $49 unlimited.

    2. XM, personal preference, I think XM will last longer than Sirius.

    3. Most limit inverters to 1000watt, and some require you to pay for hooking the large ones up, make you pay to install as not to void warranty.

    4. Sat TV waste of time, If you are being productive you wont get much time to watch TV. Get a TV and watch videos or DVD's, I fill my DVR when I am on the road, my old lady records the stuff from DVR to tape and I watch.

    5. Verizon again.

I have heard that some company has a faster connection than verizon, but am happy with verizon and have a 4 phone FP with them.

Ok thanks for all the info. I think ill just see about picking up laptop first. Use to have one, but it fell off the bed and broke. Im hoping to find one before going to work, but that will happen because of lack of funds right. Well have a great day!

I use a cell phone as a tethered modem, it usually works ok and only costs 25.00 per month. I already had a phone that would work so it was cheaper than a two year contract(nothing electronic seems to last over a year in my truck)on an air card. It is an Altell phone so maybe that is why it only works ok.
I have been thinking of an air card but i don't know if a dedicated line is worth 25.00 more a month since we have so little time to use a computer on line.
I have Sirius and really like it , but I don't think there is a lot of difference in the two, just that Sirius has a Grateful Dead channel.
