Found a couple of vendor sites that seem to be the ones who supply the stereos for several manufactures. All the stereos they have, including that one, are 50 watts x 4 channels. I suspect that any 50x4 stereo would work, and a higher powered one would work fine, but there has to be an amp somewhere in there. It would probably be under the dash or in the space under the sleeper.
I can't find any wiring schematics for those trucks though.

volvo 780 has 2 speakers in the doors, 2 on the dash, 2 for the lower bunk, 2 for the upper bunk and the sub is next the the underbunk a/c
and amp in mounted on the underside of the upped shelf in the cabinet over the passanger seat
this is the amp

afterrmarket radio's don't sound as good. my last volvo 08 had a pioneer in it and it never sounded as good as the other volvo's we had and the 06 we have now has the volvo radio in it and it sounds great

Ah yes. Now you'll have to figure out if any of the speakers are run straight to the stereo, or which ones are run through that amp. You must use the rca preamp connectors to connect to the amp or it will sound like crap since it will be feeding it to much power. That makes it loud but distorted and can burn it out.

Like I said, from looking at the vendor's site, it looks like the stereo they use is just a standard head unit the same as any one you can find at the store. How it sounds is going to depend on whether it's hooked up correctly.
