Conficker Virus Starts to Attack PCs, Experts Say
I'm getting tired of hearing about conflicker. I almost think it's another W2K hoax.

When it first came to light i updated my computer like they told people to do. Nothing became of the virus which pissed me off.
Now every time i see an article about it it always says "conflickr finally on the move' or "Conflikr finally attacking computers"
HOAX HOAX HOAX!!! -
This is NOT a hoax! I spent hours last night cleaning off my brother's computer. It is ALL over the place and on many websites. He got it from a well-known site even! I even got it (but my protection caught immediately and kicked it out from another well-known site)! Don't take this lightly and do not EVER, EVER click on the Anti-virus 2009 as it is fake software and will do NOTHING. Keep your computers up-to-date and make sure you have anti-virus software on! I have been cleaning computers now for the last couple weeks with this crap on it and I am wore out, LOL. Also, don't EVER click on that crap and buy it! That is why they are doing this! It tries to put crap on your computer to scare you into buying it...money/greed is the reason and it works with a whole hell of a lot of people, trust me on that one, sigh. -
I got the 2008 version last year on one of my computers and your absolutely correct about it looking like legitimate software. These so called anti-virus programs you see flashing as a advertisement or a pop-up that says your computer is in infected. It is nothing but a trojan program waiting to open a back door on your computer.WiseOne Thanks this.

Yep, the Anti-Virus 200X is a PITA and it shows up under a couple different names. Worse than SpySheriff. I have cleaned several computers up that get this and it's a lot of work. The last one I just blew away and reloaded Windows. It disguised itself as one of the system32 files and when I cleaned it out, it would log the user off as soon as it logged on. There's a fix for that, but, by that time, I had had it. *POOF*! Start over.

The best bet is to close it from the task bar. Unfortunately, many users don't know this and click on the window itself and there you go.

Conficker isn't affecting me... on this computer anyway.

And you can't do this with Windows either (upgrade the operating system while simultaneously browsing the web).
Granted, it's kinda slow because it's being installed to, and running off a16GB memory stick (look ma... no hard drive!), but at least I have something to do while it's updating.WiseOne and rookietrucker Thank this. -
While I'm not running it, currently, I have in the past and I really do like Ubuntu. Feisty Fawn was the last release I used.

Yea, and weird thing is it doesn't do crap to Firefox either. I had to use Firefox to do stuff on their computers to get it off and didn't dare use IE7.

9.04 Jaunty Jackalope is up and running on my laptop.

Java and Flash are both working good now--I might actually get my wife to convert. I still have a bit more tweaking to get the video drivers working. Gnome looks much better with OpenGL.
I also installed Wine and tested out DDL--it seems to work ok too. If I can get my log sheets to print, it's "Buh-bye Windoze!"
