Yeah, Fedex needs the union so they can go broke like the rest of the union trucking companies right? How many union drivers or CEO's do you see taking a paycut these days to keep their company in business through these tough times. Answer ZERO. I applaud Fred Smith.

Why , so you can pay dues and go on strike to get pay cuts ? Haven't you read about the cuts at YRC ?

Because they have no choice now. I am afraid it is too late for them now. I hate to see ANYONE lose their job but I think it is coming for YRC employees.

I hate to see Fedex do that to their employees. I wonder if Schneider was copying them, or if it was the other way around. If Fedex really wanted to save some money, they could have governed back the power units and left the salaries alone. They won't do that though because they want to be the leanest meanest fastest out there, but they'll cut their workers pay. I personally don't care how much the CEO and top suits cut their salary. A 20% cut to them wouldn't mean NEARLY as much as a 5% cut to the front-line workers. Oh well, at least they still have a job....for now. We're already working at below 1980's wages. From here I guess we get out of trucking until the economy recycles itself.

I don't see FedEx trucks with the exception of FedEx Ground doubles passing anybody . All FedEx Ground and FedEx Custom Critcal are contractor owned . FedEx doesn't buy the fuel for them . I'm pretty sure FedEx Freight are governed .

I'm curious. Are all the jets & delivery vans operated by contractors? If not, who pays for that fuel? The truck drivers? Who pays for all the fuel for the "Swift Commercial Jet Fleet"? Or, Schnieder's/JB Hunt's/US Express? I don't work for, nor am I affiliated with any of these companies. I'm just playing, "devil's advocate" here. In my estimation, unions are what sends american jobs to other countries. The statistics don't lie, on this one. If you're as hard of a worker as you'd like to think, i.e. self motivated go-getter, you shouldn't need a union. Your work will speak for itself. The only thing ,in my opinion, worse than working in a union shop is working next to some sorry P.O.S. in a non-union shop. But, those people never last long in a non-union shop. How many people do you know who worked at a "big three" plant, and can't seem to keep a job after the fact. THEY'RE LAZY, BY PROGRAMMING!!
Now, excuse me whilst I don my fire retardant suit. Please, remit all hate mail to:
