Why in the world would anyone haul crushed cars?????

Tickets and accidents waiting to happen.

 

Quarter fenders, who needs those?

 

I see Mercer loads coming out of NY to Phily. It only takes one load to learn a lesson and to cuss a coordinator.

I already know better due to previous exposure from a local junkyard. The owner finally bought a steel sided trailer to haul the crushed cars. He got tired replacing windshields.

 

worse of the worse hauling crushed cars or scrap metal. did that and quit and never looked back.

always overweight, tire punctures (due to nature of work), going round chicken coops.. lol

but I was home everynight.

at least this guy has threads on his drives.. others are bald as a racing slick. lol.

 

They're not bald, they are Indian thread tires....they leave no tracks!

 

Crushed Cars are Cheap and Heavy....What do you expect?...

Ever notice the better paying loads are usually carried on nice looking rigs?

If you expect a driver to take a "buck a mile load"....Expect a POS truck and a sloppy driver to go with your cheap rates....

 

A "High-Side" would be a better choice than a Flat or a Step....

Those loads usually pay by the ton or....If they do have a set rate...The broker wants 48K on the net or no deal.....A Carb compliant rig with a large sleeper will have problems making that....Unless you don't mind playing games with the fuel....

If you have to take that type of load with an open-deck....You have to deal with fluids leaking over the deck....In CA you will be fined if the fluids are leaking out of the vehicles.....

The loads have to be "Netted" and secured with at least 12 chains and 12 binders....

Btw....Most of the scrap cars in my experience anyway...Come from NM going to Denver at Rocky Mountain Recycling.....Since NM is a Consumer State....It produces very little and as a result....To get out of NM...You'll wind up taking a load of junk cars from ABQ to Denver....Bugle Logistics or J.H. Rose Trans are the key players in the junk (Brokers)cars biz.....But CHR does it's share too.....Bugle and Rose pay by the ton....~ $25 per ton.....CHR pays a set rate with a 48K minimum on the net.....

 

They just "get in the way" right?
