Not replacing my stacks as of now, but under the truck....the elbows, pipe and mufflers look bad and about to have holes in some spots. I have a 2005 W900l with a cat 550 acert c15 engine. It also has the 2 round mufflers under there. I want to go with one muffler but not sure if there is 2 under there for a reason. Also would like it to fit it one of the stock locations. Anyone ever went from 2 to one mufflers? How? and pictures would be great.

The two round mufflers under the cab are the "catylitic converters".

I had the exact same thing under my truck. It is straight piped now, and no it is not loud in the cab at all. I can actually hear the jake brake now. I picked up about 3/10 in fuel mileage and lost alot of weight by getting rid of everything under there. No promises but I will try to get you a picture of it shortly. And if you think its something you want to do I can tell you exactly how I did it, it only took me about three hours.

Ok, I took some pics and sent them to my wife. She is going to resize them and send them back so I can post them on here.

No, if you look close in this picture [IMG] between the top clamp and the factory weld up the split, there is another weld that goes around the pipe, I cut the y-pipe there and removed IIRC around 4 inches and welded it back together. I also welded that strap on it that is bolted to the frame, which I later removed, it is not needed.

To the left of that strap I welded an elbow to point towards the passenger side stack. The reason that I took out the four inches is so that you can keep the exhaust up high, it is not seen when walking around the truck like it is from the factory, and it also makes it very simple to get everything together when it is all at the same height.
