| Is May currently hiring? I was all set up with KLLM and was supposed to leave on Saturday, but they called me on Friday and said they had to scale back on applicants and my application got denied. WTF?!? Anyway, I'm hoping to get on board pretty quickly here and filled out an application for May today. I'm hoping they are hiring from Illinois and can get me into an orientation soon. Thanks for this useful thread! |

| bigblue....thanks for making my point. I worked for the same company for 18 years before Driving. Kbar.....Dogs have chased Rabbits for hundreds of years. I killed my first when I was 6 with a shotgun. So what is your point. Is the dog a better hunter than me. Are you a better Driver than me. I never recieved the Qcomm about chaining. It is in fact true that they would like you to chain if conditions are bad, even if chain law is not up. Fueling is a big deal at may because it is the single largest line item on the overhead. When fuel was going up so fast they would fuel us alot. Sometimes even twice a day. Now that it is going down or at a steady point you cant build up your showers. |

Most company's pay increases and policy changes are not geared toward longevity. Some company's will even limit your productivity at higher pay scales so that your income stays relative to the company average. Some company's are also aware of time behind the wheel as a safety and health liability. Many drivers do not take care of themselves on the road and start getting lax on safety issues with time behind the wheel. All these things taken as a whole without the dangers of the job will make driving for the same OTR carrier for 18 years unlikely. And I will even hazard to guess that most who are experienced drivers would see 6.5 years at the same carrier especially USX as a accomplishment. And certainly not the sign of a misfit when they did not stay longer. |

| Im not trying to flame. Just defending my employer from accusations from disgruntled former employees. I dont mind if people have a different point of view, I just dont like them condeming others because they disagree. My point has always been that no company is right for everyone. Stating fact and opinion is fine, but like I said dont trash someone else because they have been sucessful in an operation that you dislike or were not successful in. A lot of people have come on trying to make important career choices. I dont think its right for People to assume that there info or opinionis are the only correct one. Sorry for any distractions. |

![]() As far as info goes? I was at May Trucking for months. Was at the other 3 OTR carriers I worked for, for Years. I don't stay at good companies for months and not years. Not a opinion, those are the facts. Case closed |
