?'s about Millis

Got a couple ?'s about Millis. 1) Are they forced dispatch? 2) Are drivers "required" to take loads into NYC or LI? 3) Any problems with taking the tractor home during off-time?

To answer your questions. 1. you take what they send you. 2. NYC and LI are not required if you do go you get extra $$. 3. Yes you take your truck and empty trailer home with you.

Millis trucks have a speed limit of 68, for your first two years, 70 for years three through five, 72 if over five years. To qualify for the speed increases you have be a safe driver, your record will be evaluated.

Speed Restrictions

Millis is now turning down their trucks to 66 mph in an effort to save money.

Yes, with an aero truck you save about .1 MPG for 1 MPH in speed drop. Millis trucks run an average of 120K miles a year, that would save close to $2500 per truck per year.

If you are sitting and idling .... you use 1 gal a hr. some may not think thats much but if you are doing that # $4.00 a gal. and you run your truck from the time you park till you have to run, lets say 8 hrs its 32 gals which = $128.. wasted.
When you sleep , shut the truck off and throw a extra blanket on ya , when you are asleep you will never know how chilly it is ,when its warm (not HOT) get screens for your windows(tax deduction) ,open the vents ... see how much money and fuel you can save ?

you need to check your math again if you idle for eight hours that would be eight gallons burned for thirty two dollars
