Man enlists in the Army at 39 so his wife can continue to receive cancer treatments

Now easy there guys. I know plenty of young guys who are capable as well, the real problem is that our military like the rest of our society (or perhaps because of it?) has become wussified. Our politicians give them rules to follow which make absolutely no sense on a battlefield (been this way since Korea). Our leaders are too worried about trying to win the PR war, and therefore as long as it continues we won't win any war.

As far as what this guy is doing, he is taking care of his family the best way he knows how, just like each and every one of us does (or should do) every day. At least he isn't moping around collecting a ### welfare check, unemployment, and whining about how the world is so unfair!

 

My husband did his four years and would LOVE to get back in but he is too old a whole 47! He has the prior training, and is MORE able to deal with being away from home (no small children for one) and more than willing to serve again.

I think a person should beable to join no matter their age IF they can pass the physical and do the job. The older guys/gals would be an asset to the youngins and the inexperienced.
