Atlantic CDL Training Center, L.L.C. Covington Georgia

Hello all,im new up in here but ive been reading posts for months and im about to finally pick a school ive narrowed my search down to Truck Driver Institute in Forsyth Georgia - Millis Institute in Cartersville Georgia - Georgia Driving Academy in Conyers Georgia and Atlantic CDL Training Center, L.L.C. in Covington Georgia.

Im trying to train as close to home as possible........

I cant seem to find any reviews on Atlantic CDL Training Center, L.L.C. in Covington Georgia.

If anyone here can give me some insight on their company or experiences with this company i would appreciate it much.

Ive decided which school to attend.

I was scheduled to start at the Truck Driver Institute in Forsyth Georgia on the 14th of this month but the recruiter i feel was'nt straight up with me when i talked to him several times and he never told me being accepted was based on my credit so he had me believe i would start on the 14 ,up until i sent him a 50 dollar deposit for background check and so and so then he calls me and tells me his school cant finance me maybe with a co signer though.This after i quit my job and set up arrangements to go to their school.If he would have told me being accepted involved a credit check i would have kept my job knowing my credit is wrecked............

Millis Institute in Cartersville Georgia told me my application was denied............

I did'nt feel comfortable with Georgia Driving Academy in Conyers Georgia even though a friend of mines graduated from there and is doing well.

I am however scheduled to start at Atlantic CDL Training Center, L.L.C. in Covington Georgia on the 14th though.

And since there are no reviews on this site pertaining to them i guess i will log my experience with them as i go.

The atmosphere there is friendly ,appears small but about business,recruiters were very helpful the times i visited and called.Today i was allowed to fill out pre hire applications and was given a stack of ten or more to take home even though i'm not officially in yet,will take physical and drug test tomorrow.

Looking forward to starting something ive been contemplating for years..........whew!

 

Well ,ive finally graduated and received my Class A CDL license ,its been such a journey for me,so i decided to do a progress report once i graduated.

Certain realities of learning and getting my CDL license hit me soon after i enrolled,i took my time for granted thinking it would be easy as pie.When i started i studied but not hard enough,i basically didnt study much after i left class everyday,i went home and watched my kids while my wife worked.

So when i took my written test at first i failed my gen knowledge and airbrakes,then i retook and failed my airbrakes.I finally really buckled down before the third test ,i then passed all my endorsements except for doubles and triples,i passed the hazmat also.

The class instructor Ron was very knowledgeable and did a very good job.If i put more effort into studying i would have easily passed the first time.Alot of times in life you get out what you put in.

So once i hit the yard to learn yard maneuvers i was behind my original class but i was more focused.Once i started my yard maneuversi had a hard time learning my backing techniques,i now realize i was doing a lot of over steering.I was held back due to my progress.But the instructors stuck with me even after my 180 hrs was surpassed.

Some schools i hear will send you to test if your ready or not.Once you get your hours your gone.Im glad that wasnt the case here.The extra time i spent here helped me grow alot.

So after some time practicing my backing skills i finally got it,one day it just clicked and it became so easy its ridiculous.I think i became one with the truck........... lol

The road training was a challenge as well,it was my first time ever driving a stick shift so it took me a while to get it as well.Once i got on the road and started interacting with traffic i was nervous as hell,(thinking is this what i really want to doworrying about way to much.The truck was running me,i didnt calm down until i realized and accepted in my mind that i was in control of the truck and not vice versa.The instructors Eric and Jeff helped me adjust to this,each in his own way.

In all i was there a couple months,i was definately a slow learner but i now have the skills necessary to enter the trucking industry.Since ive been at this school i can say every one i saw go to test passed.Not all passed the first time but at least more than 85 percent did.Its a small school,but that is one of its strengths,because you dont get lost in the shuffle.The classes average 4 to 6 people.

I went to the dds a few times to watch my fellow classmates test and while i was there i saw other schools testing and i saw some students yard testing and i was like ,how did they even get this far.Atlantic CDL in Covington Georgia wont let you go to the dds if you cant pass the test at the school which is set up identically with the dds yard.

My overall experience at Atlantic CDL in Covington Georgia was A1.I definately made the right choice.And i loved the experience.I would recommend them to anyone.If you need any info on them feel free to ask,i will be more than happy to help you.
