not sure what your state laws are, but where I am you need to be 21 to have a class A license, and to be able to drive out of the state. Sorry to say it but you might need to wait til your 21 to get your license, however you can get a Class B for a straight truck at 18. If you are looking to stay local then get a job as a dock worker or someone loading the trailers till you become of age to start driving

First get a truck driving game for your xbox and a log book. Then play that game for eleven hours a day every day for two weeks straight logging your playing time and all your breaks in between playing. When it's time to hit the bunk go out and sleep in your car for ten hours. No, you can't invite the neighbor girl, she has a reputation! Be sure and log all of your movements, they will be checked and scrutinized. After two weeks of this you get a day and a half off to do whatever you want! Then when your day and a half is gone you do two more weeks. If you don't follow all the rules very closely you could get fired! And have bad things put on your record by your employer! And no other employer will let you play their game! Oh and sometimes they even pay you to play their game! But sometimes they don't! It's at their discretion! If you can do this for a year then you might make it! GOOD LUCK!

First and foremost, finish high school and graduate. Next up you should give serious consideration to some kind of college. Community college is fine if you don't have the grades or finances for anything else. Concentrate on business and accounting classes but also try to get some exposure to marketing and some liberal arts won't kill ya while you're at it.
What you want to shoot for is to prep as much as possible for owning and running your own business. There are lots of opportunities in trucking to work as a driver for a good company and do well. But as often as not, you find that the only way to get ahead and prosper is to become an owner/operator which means you'll be running your own business. So you should do everything you can to prepare yourself for that. That way, you'll end up better prepared for trucking as well as a ton of other career options in case you end up deciding that trucking isn't for you.

Ask yourself why Truck driving , is it in your family , grew up around these things maybe you stare anytime one rides by ? You could survive . Looks fun , be an adventure, get paid to see the USA ,RUN AWAY before you end up in debt for Trucking school ,but quit after 3mo. "None are free READ The whole contract" a good living and life can be had out here ,just keep ur CDL clean ALWAYS ,be patient and research the company ask more than How fast ,how much $$$, what kinda truck..good luck msg if you need help .

Finish HS and keep a CLEAN record!! Then like someone said get a cdlB and work local or get a job on the dock. Fork lift drivers can make a lot of money and it might put you in a place to see first hand what drivings about with out auctully doing it.
DO GO FOR IT OR GIVE IT UP JUST ON SOMEONE'S SAY SO.
