you must not drive in big cities much, I am a local driver in Chicago. I see this stuff every day, sometimes multiple times a day.

Should he have had to swerve? No. As he wasn't paying attention and he wasn't going to brake in time...that was his obvious choice.

Not often I see ones that are that close and very rare they involve me. Some say I'm lucky :|

    Another stupid 4 wheeler trick.

2 lane, pickup pulls out to pass but is in no hurry to get by. Oncoming car appears. Watching to see if pickup will fall in behind or put the petal to the metal but they don't seem to notice the car approaching. I don't think the driver of the pickup even realized what happened and what almost happened.

That was some good driving there Tinytim. When you're not in that stuff everyday there's moves these idiots do that will get your nerves going for sure. When I started hauling gasoline in town with oversize trucks I could not believe my co workers records. Some of the drivers have gone 20 years in that type of traffic and not one incident or accident. Of course I wondered what they were doing that others were not. Then the company came in with the Smith System and the drivers started to mumble a little until the Smith people came to the terminal and explained their system. Those drivers that had so many years with a completely safe record stood up and said we have been doing this for years. There's was two drivers out of Portland that had over 30 years safe driving and they explained what they did and what the Smith System did. Very close. That one step in keep your eyes moving is a step we all do. But if you have an incident like this you have to ask yourself did you see it coming? Just thought I mention what works for us.
