I would think that day cabs are different from OTR tractors since they are used for more local work thus being more stop and go traffic which will ruin an engine alot quicker that just driving at a steady RPM for a better part of the life of the engine. But I may be wrong on this. |

| Something like a dunp truck you are doing good to get 400k out of it much less 600k. I'm driving a volvo roll of with 273k and it smokes like a chimney. by the way 370hp may be okay for a dump truck but you won't want to pull 80k pounds with that small of a motor. I know co's like schneider do it but do ya really want to make a payment on that? |

| I drove a 96 FLD 120 with that motor and a 9 speed, assuming that motor is a N-14, it might be a M-11 with that rating, much lighter but less durable. N-14s and 3406 cats could be found at less than that for horsepower as well(lots of 355 hp motors out there). You basically kept your foot to the floor in Iowa because of the hills and it would get the job done, I took loads to south of Knoxville, TN and it got that done as well M-11s can be had up to over 400 hp, my BIL hauls grain with 1, up to 88k with the exemption for grain hauling in the fall, they don't last but are close to a thousand lbs lighter. I drove short haul for a company that had both engines in Volvos, it was hard to tell the difference from driving them. |
