| I say get whatever is comfortable at the least expensive price you have to pay for them. Personally I have 4 pair I love to wear at any time. I have some Dingo cowboy boots with the oil resistant work sole, some 5.11 tactical side zip boots, some EMT ankle high boots and some Sears brand DieHard duty boots. I like all of them for various reasons and usually carry three pair with me all the time and swap out what I wear. I prefer the two black pair most often just because my other color beige/camel shows dirt and grease marks too easily. So to really answer your question, my suggestion would be to get at least two pair of boots, prefer black mid-ankle hiking style boots. JM2C  |

| i have a pair of danner "ft mitchells" that I wear when it is cold out... in the summer months I wear mid top hikers - or my trusty USMC issue dessert kicks... (well worn in back in 1991 hehehhehehehhe)

| I liked my Caterpillars the best. I had a pair of Wolverines, but they didn't seem to last long. I thought I would try a pair of Dickies this time, but they are tough! Can't seem to break them in! Kill my feet. I think next time I might try Carhartt boots. A friend of mine really likes his. If I don't like those, I'll be going back to the Cat's. In cast you are wondering, I've been trying different brands to see if I could actually find something better than the Cat's. |

| Boots I've got a pair of boots made by white in washington state. 18 in tops,steel toe,steel shank, good for life,if the stiching or workmanship fails for any reason you send them back and they fix them or send you a new pair and they pay the postage. 300.00 depending on style  |

| I have a pair made by Converse. They have a composite toe, zip side, and feel like skate shoes.
