I have been reading all kinds of postings and messages on here for about a week. I am going this monday to start my CDL training in Riverside, CA for Central Refrigeration Serv.. I am neverous about some things but overall I feel confident and ready for this... I havent found to many "negative" things on CRS and it sounds like a good company to start with. Now, the only thing I am worried about is they mentioned if I have some BS i didnt diclose with them do I think I would have a problem crossing the Canadian Border??? Well, I am 23 years old this August and I have a Juvenile record from when I was 16 years old.... and the state of california keeps me on ""JUVENILE"- parole" untill next year.. i have never had an issue with it before.. california's juvenile laws are really wierd though. I have had many jobs that have asked if I had ever been arrested and i simply say "no".. and i have seen many company's do a background check on me and come up clean everytime.... but i am scared that once i start working, if for what ever reason CRS makes me run across the Canada border I am worried of losing my job and being stuck hundreds of miles from home... I just figured that since I will have a Paper with me from the state of california saying I can travel for my job, i wont get any BS from the canadian border... Maybe I am just blowing this way out of paportion??
But anyway, i will for sure continue to post on here when I get the chance and will let you guys know what I thought of the school and trainer..
Any advice would be great if you got any to offer.

You're soon to be 23, but you are still on Juvenile parole stemming from an incident that happened when you were 14...? May I ask what the offense was? Have you talked with your P.O. about this? Some employer's background checks are not as thourough as others, and there are some who only run your license through MVR and call it a background check. INMHO, withholding info isn't wise because it only holds the potential for wasting not only the company's time, but yours as well. I mean, there's going to find what they're going to find independent of what you disclose.

That paper from California will alert the border guards to enter your name in the data base.

yeah munrkr, im about to be 23 in august and i was 16 when i got into the trouble... never had been in trouble before that or afterwards since.. My P.O. is the nicest person, she thinks shes a mother to me..lol.. but I waited along time to ask her if I could have the "Go-Ahead" to do trucking because I have always wanted to do it. She contacted the parole department in charge of parolees crossing state lines and they had no problem with it. I had gotten arrested when i was 16 for a fight at a high school party... everyone was completely wasted and i ended up fighting because of my dumb girlfriend at that time. I ended up having to "Try" to take on a big guy and the 4-5 of his friends... i used a beer bottle in the fight cuz i was getting beat...lol.. then last i crashed my car drunk like 100 feet outside the house and Fled the scene... worst night for me ever.... I dont really think i would have a problem because I will just hope the background shows nothing and keep my mouth shut!... and heyns57, good idea,, i wont be flashing that paper around

Welcome!!! and good luck with your new venture

I do not know if the company will find out about your past or not but I can you what will happen if they do find out and you lied on your job application. 9 times out of 10 they will submit a record showing you lied and you'll never get ( or should say you'll have a very hard time) a job driving a truck.
I believe you'd be a fool to wait and see what happens. I'd talk to someone with the company before you're indebted to them. Your chances of no one ever finding out are slim since you have a P.O. now.AfterShock Thanks this. -
well i let them know that i had a juvenile record last week, and made a point that i had no adult record at all. they didnt seem to care but atleast they know and im less worried now. and i didnt get to start this monday like i was planning on. my recruiter called at the last minute and sid there was something wrong with my license(class C), and i didnt get it fixed untill saturday which was to late to start on monday. so im looking forward to "again" starting this upcoming monday...

and........ I don't see why this was funny......
Possession of Alcohol by a Minor
Intoxication of a Minor
DUI
Chargeable Accident
Hit and Run
Fleeing the Scene of a Crime
Disorderly Conduct
Assault
Battery
Assault with a deadly weapon
Aggravated battery
Assault and battery
Aggravated assault and battery
??????
How do I phrase this...... I may certainly be wrong...... I don't know anything about you personally.......but the only teens that I have had be remanded to Youth Authority until the age of 24...... have been my boys that were tried (and convicted) in the ADULT court........
Questions:
Did you fill out an application with CRS?
If you did, did you disclose all the information from your past?
If you did not, and you signed the application, do you know you have now committed fraud?
If you did withhold information, and signed, do you know that when CRS finds this out they will put it on your DAC Report?
Is CRS training you free of charge or for some guarantee that you will work for them?
If so, and this catches up with you, don't you think they are going to go after you financially?
I'm sorry to be the party pooper here......... but this sounds (to me) like more of a situation than just a few unpaid parking tickets.........Last edited: Jun 23, 2008

In most states if your under the age of 18 your record will stay sealed, even if your on parole...
