Getting started...

Okay I have posted a few questions and have made my mind up 100% sure that this is what I want. I did a search of companies hiring within my area. And since I am 22 I had to knock a few of those out. I have a list of 3 companies and I find that reading people's good and bad stories are not really productive to me. The list I have is Swift, U.S. Xpress, and USA Truck. I am also currently researching these companies a bit further.

Also could anyone tell me since I currently can't speak with these recruiters, since I have a CDLs with 3 years of Commercial Driving experience but no tractor/trailer experience would I have to pay and go through the school or would they just put me in with a trainer?

What class cdl do you have? class b? Most companies want 'recent' tractor/trailer experience. Best thing you can do, is call and ask. They may take you, or they may tell you to re-train. "Go back to school..."
When I was about your age, I spoke to a guy at a training facility, and he said the only company (at the time) that would take me was Schneider. Some companies are nervous about hiring someone under 25 years of age. Most importantly, their insurance company may be nervous about drivers under 25.

Good luck.

first I have a class A cdl but no experience with as big of trucks as I would be driving. Also the 3 I narrowed it down to are hiring students and recent grads. So I assume since I have a Class A CDL and yet no experience in those trucks I fall somewhere in the middle of those 2 classifications.

Yes you would be considered a student. Any company that hires students would put you with a trainer for several weeks then you would go on your own.
