Knight tale

It wasn't and isn't that I will not go to the East Coast. I work for percentage now and have been going quite a bit more cause the $ is right. But at Knight when I worked there I got .30cpm and 61 mph truck. East Coast is Hell with that company then cause if you got stuck in traffic you couldn't make it up cause the truck didn't do the speed limit. I allso hated the idea of getting the last 300-700 miles of a 18-2500 load..with two days before you could deliver. Even in 2004 .30cpm was too little to operate up there exclusiley. In my opinion.

Knight was one of those companies I can't complain too much about because they were trying to fix what problems I saw they had like payroll by moving to scanning and using latest technology by putting tracking devices in trailers to keep up where they were and if they were mt. Cause in 2004 that paid the next day was a joke because if you didn't go by a terminal or approx 18 designated truck stops you couldn't turn in the BOL. I saw one about every 6-10 days then it took two days to process then you would be paid via comdata card but after the scanning is was deliver by 11am paid by midnight like clockwork for me. Thier MT problem is an easy fix buy more trailers and turn the trucks up to at least do 65

My truck runs 64 on cruise, 66 on the pedal. If your fuel mileage or idle time is bad the computer will cut it back from there to 64 max.

mine did 61

Like I said I worked there in 2004-2005 speeds were 62 mph throttle cruise 61 they had problems but were working to fix them....like payroll they fixed while I was there and delivered as advertised...I can't find much fault with a company that tries to address thier problems and fix them I just didn't want to stay east coast and wouldn't do it for anyone on mileage pay. I remember a stupid policy they put in as I was leaving about not fueling or stopping in GA but have a terminal in Atalanta I hope thats gone because it was dumb policy very unpopular with the drivers in Indy terminal.

...all companies have both!! Been there almost 4 yrs, have thought about quitting umpteen times, but the perks are too good for me!! Depends on what you are looking for---if just $$$, NOT the place to go; but, depending upon where you live (I live near Phx!), can get home weekly!!

Remeber with Knight

It is non-forced dispatch...If you live in the midwest don't do what I did that made me quit them. I would run loads dropped by drivers out west on to the east coast after they had driven all the miles out and babysit the loads waiting on delivery. Let those guys deliver thier own freight cause if you start doing it for them Knight will expect you to do it and only offer you loads going east coast from that Indy or Chi terminal that originated in Phoniex or Utah when they have tons of freight and miles going everywhere. The lowest paid drivers at Knight are those who get suckered into staying east coast...I know from doing it. Never give up an empty trailer either you may not find another but other than that is not a bad place to work and you get paid QUICK!

I'm guessing yours and your wife's families aren't truck drivers. Otherwise, they'd know what it's like constantly getting it in the rear from a company, without vaseline, or even a kiss. I'm sure if they did drive, they wouldn't have been with one company that long.

What's that about, fuel prices or something? What's wrong with west Memphis?

You mentioned KLLM,as a possible company to hire on. I'd suggest staying away from the reefer side.Reefer work has a lot of extra respondsibilities and headaches and not much more $
