If you do the 7/3, 7/4 you share two trucks among 3 drivers. If you do the 7/7 you share one truck with another driver. If you do full time, you get your own truck. No company will let a truck sit for 3-7 days every couple weeks.

| Just reading through here...does that 7/7 or 7/3 & 7/4....and honor program still work together?...like someone said you get $870 bi-weekly, that would also be for the 7/7 schedule as well...right? so you would get $870 salary bi-weekley and only actually work one week out of the two for that pay check the other would be off-duty? And as your time went on...so on...you get that $1410 salary plus the GI Bill monthly, but only work two weeks out of the month? Technically that would be...Roehl pays you $700 week one, then nothing week two.... What I'm saying is, It soulnds like it works, but only if you get the two weeks off every month...because you can make $46k/year without the GI Bill...it sounds like Roehl is short changing you (and making money doing it) and having the GI Bill pick up the empty spot where they rip you off. See what I'm sayin'...It's like your driving is worth $46k/yr but they're shorting you by $15k what you could be making and having you find your own way (GI Bill) to come up with that difference...NEWS-ALERT NEWBIES!!!...you can make $40-$45k year anyway without putting your own money (GI Bill) into your own salary.... ![]() GI Bill should be on top of your salary..it is a benefit to you for your service, NOT A SUPPLEMENT TO A TRUCKING COMPANY who is short changing you!!! ![]() now if you get that 7/7...guys go for it !!! You would only work half the year and that would be $30k (for 6 months work of driving) Plus your $10k GI Bill....That is where it works and only where it works...take it from the guys out there (and I'm a vet too)...we need look out for each other,,....ya know...ONLY TAKE THE HONOR PROGRAM if you get the 7/7...guaranteed !!! That guys post on page one says it all...read between the lines and you can see where they steal $10-15k from you and "dope" the salary with YOUR GI Bill (YOUR money anyway)...don't forget too tht you can't take the truck home on 7/7 and breaks downs are a pain in the butt for two guys, not just one....someone else needs that truck.. | and what about contracts....first, is their school really free for you guys...and second, what happens if you quit before the 2 year mark for apprentice training...do you have to pay back GI Bill or Roehl for anything. I failed a class once and the GI Bill took all the money back from me...they took my tax return to get it.... |

Air national guard How is Roehl about those in the guard and reserves who have to do there "twice a month, 2 weeks a year" Are they ok with getting you home to serve?

Punisher, You make some very valid points. The way it looks the GI Bill is helping Roehl pay your salary...not in addition to the salary. That just doesn't seem right, as you pointed out. You earned your Bill benefits and nobody should abuse them. Another poster in a different thread mentioned that the GI Bill only applies if you run full time. No 7/7, 7/4 or 7/3. So, for a solid 2 yrs you need to stay full time to keep getting GI Bill money. As soon as you scale back to a 7/x schedule the GI Bill stops. I don't think I want to sacrifice my GI Bill in this manner. Rather keep it in my hip pocket for future use. I really applaud Roehl for offering free training to vets who have been out less than 12 months. No contracts and no repayment if you leave their employ. They're taking a chance that you may go elsewhere right after training. But vets have proven their loyalty in many ways and Roehl is banking on the fact that they'll show the same loyalty by driving for them.

Newb here, I will be retiring from the AF in 4 months. I have been doing a lot of searching about companies and everything about trucking and have a few questions. I like the idea of using the GI bill plan that Roehl offers. I don't plan on ever using the MGIB for school, so this is a way to still use the money and not waste the $1200 I put in at the start! Question 1, who has done, or doing the apprenticeship program and what do you think of it so far? I am single and no dependants, so I would prefer to be out on the road. I do have folks and a GF that lives in Arkansas and would like to remain and Arkansan. So questions 2 is, can I drive for Roehl and live or domicile out of Arkansas and be able to park it in Arkansas when down? Any information would be helpful in making a future decision.

Im 21 years old new to the industry and got burnt by roehl real bad, when i came home from iraq i signed up with roehls honor program for the free cdl school, got my cdl went both phases with a trainer and was told i was one of their better students, but when i got my own truck, i made a few beginners mistakes, and i got fired a week and a half later for being "unsafe", evidently their training program is very very screwd, or being inexpienced right off the bat when in a student program is sufficient grouds for termination, so now ive been unemployed for two months cuz no trucking company will take me and my savings from my war service is running out
