What up everyone!! I start school at Roehl Transport on Mar. 17th to get my cdl. Anyone else starting on that day? Also, I'd appreciate any advice as to what I need to be prepared for and should I curve my enthusiasm? I'm very excited about getting into the trucking industry.

Curb your enthusiasm, no way. just be prepared. life is alot different on the road then behind a desk. Listen to your instructors during school. Practice all tasks as much as possible. Take advantage by training on saturdays. (most students do not take advantage of weekend training). When you pass your test and move to evelotuion 1 and 2 try to drive as much as possible, cause on evelution 3 you are on your own.

Even though i may be critical of Roehl, I am never critical on new students, so any questions be ready for an honest answer as i see it.

Once again good luck and of course be safe

I just finish school on 2-29, and O must say it was a wild ride for my emotion. One day I would be happy because I did everything right, then I would be sad or disgusted because I screwed up on something. I say that to say this, enjoy yourself as this is a new experience to you, but be prepared for some highs and lows. Never give up if you make a mistake and always keep trying. A guy in class with me would give up when he tried to down shift and missed a gear. Well if you do that on the test you will fail. So rememberthat you will have some bad days as well as good ones but bo matter what, do not give up.

GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN!

I myself leave 3/8/08 for Gary,IN for orientation with ROEHL. I already have my CDL form another school. As far as school goes just listen to the instructors and don't be shy. If you have a question ask it, if you screw up so what just keep on trying till you get it right. Remember they are there to help you. If another student has a bad attitude don't hang around them they will just bring you down. Stay positive and you will do just fine. Hope to see ya down the road and good luck.

Well, enthusiasm is not a bad thing, just remember that this will change your life in one of two ways..It will either be the best thing you've ever done, or the worst. It is what you make it. As for me, I come from a long line of truckers, from my grandad, my dad, to uncles, and cousins, it's kind of a family tradition,(although I hope my 2 sons choose different careers). I have been a truck driver since I was 19, and OTR for the past 5 years, and I still love it..I hate the rules, but love the job..My advice is this, and this only..Pay attention, you need to learn as much as you can while in training. Once you buckle up for the first time on your own, it is a little itimidating..Good luck

I'm currently in my second week at RDTC and loving it. I can't say enough good things about the instructors here. This can be a challenge, but don't let anybody curb your enthusiasm; it's all what you make of it. Best wishes.
