Fairly impressed, my pay issue seems to have be resolved. I got my back pay, but I'll have to wait and see if they actually corrected my fleet.

So flippin' mad right now. Who writes the directions to customers? It's interns, or somebody else that barely gets paid, I bet. Huh?

We tried that but they seemed to enjoy it.

It was my own fault for not calling the Shipper and double checking. But still, the direction were completely wrong. Not even close. Not even close to being close. I ended up in the hood, with some very unfriendly looking gentleman looking at me. Thank goodness they could see it was 20 tons a steel. No use in trying to jack that, I suppose.

Anybody else notice that Gary seems to be a little segregated? It's kinda funny. If you look, each fleet has staked out their own turn almost. The van guys usually park in the first row across from the shop, and the reefers tend to stay in the row behind that. Flatbeds and curtains are usually parked against the fence. I mean, yes, there are trucks from all the fleets sprinkled throughout, but generally speaking, they tend to park in specific areas. Fine with me, I don't need you box pullers tainting my pure blood

Anybody else notice this flatbed raise isn't really a raise at all?

I am going use the most perfect-day scenario you can think of. No traffic, all the scales are closed, and all strapping and tarping was done by the load securement fairies. All we are doing is driving.

Before the raise and the truck speed reduction:

65mph x 11 = 715 miles

.32cpm (my pay band) x 715 = $228.80

After the raise and truck speed reduction:

63mph x 11 = 693

.33cpm x 693 = $228.69

We are actually losing .11 day. Yes, thats a small number, but the fact is, we did not get a raise. We stayed the same and the other divisions took a pay cut. Just the way I see it at least.

I have to say, I am a little impressed with Roehl right now. Not only did they back pay what they owed me, but they fixed the actual problem.

Now, as for taxes, there seems to be a glitch in their computer. It was explained to me, by another driver, that Roehl's computer calculates taxes weekly. Well, since HP drivers are paid biweekly, the system assumes that we are making that salary amount every week and thus deducts more in taxes than set forth by the IRS. When he asked payroll, they told him he could have to claim SIX exemptions to counter this glitch. That doesn't seem quite kosher to me. At least I'll get a fat tax return next year!

(Sorry Rum, don't mean to be hijacking your thread )
