Roehl lease program?

The topic is basically all I want to ask. Does anyone know anything about the lease deal here?

Sinking economy, laying off workers, Not takeing as many new students, takeing away benefits

Thats one side of the coin

Your lack of experience

Thats the other side of the coin.

But if you realy want to know about the program you should check out Roehls package. They have a printed brouchure. Better yet just have them explain the fuel surcharge program to ya.. Bring a couple advils you'll need em

I've been looking at it. Most L/Os I've talked to are happy (I said most). Pay is based on a sliding scale:

Van
601-1200 $0.89
1201-2000 $0.86
2001+ $0.85

Curtainside
601-1200 $0.90
1201-2000 $0.87
2001+ $0.86

Refrigerated

601-1200 $0.91
1201-2000 $0.88
2001+ $0.87

Flatbed

401-800 $0.94
801-1200 $0.92
1201-2000 $ 0.89
2001+ $0.88

Empty -all divisions- $0.82

You really need to be clear why you want to lease and understand when all is said and done and your fixed expenses are covered, you may make the same amount or less than a company driver some weeks.

I want to do it for one very simple reason, independence. L/Os can turn down loads, designate areas they don't wish to run, deadhead at will, aren't part of the MPG Crusades, and on and on. Simply put: My truck, my fuel, my money. Don't get me wrong, I intend to work smart and hard, but the ability to do those things if needed is nice. Besides, I want a dog.

89 cents per mile? From the entirely hearsay evidence I've collected, that would shift me to outright losing money.

I've just started going 55, so we'll see if I can meet the standards at that point. The independence of choosing where to go would be pretty nice, but my main concern is job survival, which is threatened by this fuel mileage stuff.

Not true, most with Roehl are making money. You have to be smart though. The guys that lose money are the ones that choose the truck with the big truck payment. I knew of one guy that got a KW through Roehl and had a payment in excess of 800 a week and he liked his hometime. That is a losing combo. Remember the truck is a workhorse and not a palace. The few are l know are clearing a grand a week after all payouts. You just gotta be smart.

My main concern is with the price Roehl is charging for the truck. You can go to Arrow truck sales and get a 3 year old Volvo for about $1100.00 a month. I currently drive one of the Volvo's in Roehl's fleet and it is a far superior truck to the FL's and Int's that Roehl has. I darn near avg 8mpg since moving into this truck. It is a little smaller inside but it rides better and is more comfortable. Also I have had zero issues with the truck. I am gonna ask Roehl if I can lease this truck thru them. I am sure they will ask for more than $500.00 a week for it. It is a 2006 VNL630 with 310,000 miles. At that point it would make no sense to get one of thier trucks when I can get the same Vovlo from Arrow for about $275.00 per week if you divide the monthly payment into a weekly payment. I believe I can save nearly $1000 a month by buying my truck from a outside source. I will let everyone know what Roehl says. I have a call into Dan B who handles the lease deals. The thing everyone keeps saying is if I lease my truck thru Roehl I can always walk away from the deal if I don't like it or it fails. That is a bad way to approach anything, I will not fail so I must make the best decision possible and then go for it all out. Dr. Venture good luck with your choice, you sound like me also, I just want my dog with me, HaHa...

Roehl flatbed lease

I have been on the phone with Dan in the lease department and will be paying him a visit when they can get me thru marshfield. Dan is really cool helpful and patient especially with all of the questions I have asked. I can try and answer anyones questions based upon what dan has answered already for me. Ask away I'm ready.
