Hi all! Started as company driver back in Oct of 2011 and converted over to run as IC on the choice program back in Feb of 2013 you can read about my beginnings and transition into the choice program here -> http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/schneider/159117-running-with-schneider.html
As you can see there are several threads now of drivers coming into the IC choice program here at SNI. Thought I would vibe up the title of my thread so everyone knows what the writings are about at first glance! Some that know me already know what my thread is on about, but heck.. gotta update this stuff every now and then!
Here are some pics of my truck when I first picked it up in GB! Leasing to purchase a 2013 freightliner Cascadia. Had 50,000 miles on her when I picked it up. Now has 225,000. Running strong! Have done some minor repairs here and there along the way but for the most part got lucky with decent truck!

Delivered in Phoenix AZ today and grabbed my next load right at same place. Deadhead/bobtail was about .001 mile just up about 10 slots from where I dropped! Love when that happens. Now heading to Cali with this load and currently shut down in Indio CA for my 10. Ran about 480 miles today. Will drop this in the morning and then pick up another load about 25 mile deadhead and 80 mile loaded (high paying shorty) that delivers about 10 miles from where I live. Will kick it at the house tomorrow night and maybe grab the wife by the hair and toss her around a bit..
Take home income for the month of April not including taxes looks something like this:
April 3rd $517.00 (Should of been $1235.00 ; $718 was taken out for repairs on truck done at SNI OC, mostly warranty work. This is not the normal way to get work done on the truck. Usually repairs are done at dealer and is billed through your maintenance account. Any work done at an OC comes straight out of your settlement. I did it for convenience and speed on which it could be done.)
April 10th $196.13 (purposely took a long load to roll into next week hoping to make more money for the next 2 weeks than I normally would)
April 17th Wait for it.. $4357.41 (Includes reimbursement of the $718 warranty work and the long load that rolled over from last week)
April 24th $1299.25 (lower average)
-------------------------------------------------------
Total for the Month-- $6369.82
Truck on! -
Congrats on the month of April!!!!

Delivered the load from Phoenix to Wilmington CA then picked up and delivered that shorty load up near house yesterday. SNI had me bobtail out of there, assume because I'm picking up my next load relay out of Fontana OC heading to Oregon. So that was cool to just bobtail to the house. Should say.... near the house, because they don't allow big trucks in the area where I live. Spent the rest of the day and night at home, nice! Rolled out of bed this morning and the wife drove me back to the truck.
Back at it now, grabbed the relay and on my way to Oregon.
As I was hooking up to the load this morning out of the corner of my eye notice a shinny silver thing in my tire. What heck is that? Yep sure enough some sort of spike or nail in one of my drive tires. couldn't pull it out without a lot of force. Sprayed some water on it to see if it was leaking air. Nope, didn't seem to be leaking and it had been there a little because the head was worn down. None the less didn't like the looks of it so stopped at next Petro to get it fixed!
Pretty gnarly looking, check it out!
By Cali law they said they can't repair it if it is with-in 1 inch of side wall. It was pretty close to that. However, after they pulled it out we found out it didn't actually penetrate! Believe it or not! So they ended up putting a big patch inside the tire anyway to be safe and off I went. Would have been looking at a new tire if they couldn't repair it. Hoping to get a few more months out of these before replacing them. Would suck having one new tire when the rest are worn down quite a bit.
Heavy heavy traffic on I-5 today at one point was at a complete stop for about an hour! Somehow managed to knock out 450 miles today.
Just another day at the office!Last edited: May 5, 2014

Glad you were able to get that tire fixed... that's a nasty piece of metal to have stuck all the way in there, really surprised it didn't penetrate!

Thanks! True.. totally shocked it didn't go all way through! Probably would have if kept driving on it.Last edited: May 5, 2014

With goodyears self healing tires nails are a thing of the past. And why buy new, when most tire shops have used tires.
