Good good,
The pumkin patch gets a bum rap
But infact if your not teaming and you get lucky enough to get a good lane it is a great place to start
I know a few who have been there since i was in diapers
nah not that long but since i was a young kid
and they have been very successful there
i guess what suggestion i should make is this
If your dispatch is sitting you too much find out why
if you cant ............fire them
they work for you
just get an other dispatcher
But also even if you dont get much money in the beginning
Dont be discuraged just make a name for your self
Know you are with one of the best truck companys when it comes to training
Good luck

I've only talked face to face with one Stevens driver. But he really liked it and had been there for awhile. He had been broke down at the same KW dealer as myself for about a week with tranny probs.. but didn't have more than 2 or 3 bad things to say about them.

Jake and Cruise

You get your Jake when you go solo now
then you get your cruise at 3 months.
It seems this policy has been changed alot by this company over the years. All the drivers I have spoke with tell me different times than what my situation was 1 month ago

I can understand the Cruise but Jake?
Update here:
Cruise is off till your 3 mos.
Jake is turned on after you complete your dumb and dumber 3 weeks.
Speed set at 65 for company, once you go contractor is moved to 68.
This is as of 01/01/08.

Should I Go?

I'm Scheduled to begin at the Stevens school on the 7th of April. It seems that there is a lot of mixed feeling about Stevens. I live in South Florida. There are not a lot of options for someone wanting to break into the business as an OTR driver. Can anyone suggest a company that would train?

I'm in south Florida, Miami. I would however be willing to relocate to central or North Florida.

Because Jake Brakes can brake. They want the driver to know how to properly take a truck on a downgrade before giving them something to make it easier. It makes sense if you think about it.

They are only good for starting out

I started out with Stevens in 12-99 and there training was not half bad it could have been worse HOWEVER once they get you to sign on the dotted line...thats it. Be ready to make about $200 bucks a week and drive about 2-3k miles a week making them lots of money! You can prepare to see your family move on without you and your friends well....Good place if your a loner and dont need money
