you could probabely get a pretty good deal on apu thru company?

Doesn't that 660 have a wabasto? I sleep cold, windows open wrapped up in my sleeping bag ... but i've been turning the wabasto on about 15 minutes before I get up and the truck is nice and toasty.

I am going to buy one for my son. Last winter his truck broke down, no power, electrical or anything, in the middle of nowhere in subzero temps. Within a short time his truck cab interior was well below zero. Without power for the outlets this would have kept him from near hypothermia. Took over 4 hours for a tow to arrive. Also going to send him a couple of those emergency phone chargers run on batteries. In an emergency a propane heater is better than freezing in 20+ below

Just buy him a decent subzero sleeping bag and he should be carrying adequate clothes for the conditions he will face, anyway.
A few extra blankets never hurt.
The home type electric heaters are 1500 watts. Even if you have an inverter that will handle that, it will kill a battery pretty quickly. Leaving you without lights, radio, tv
I wouldn't use a propane heater unless you only used it a few minutes at a time, and I doubt most people have the self discipline if it is really cold.

I have a gortex sleeping bag system its good for -50. 168 bucks but got mine free still have fiends in Army. Also the trucks have a bunk heater so unless the batteries/electrical are fubar it works

I'd think most company trucks either have a Webasto or Espar heater installed. If so then there's no need for buying a fire hazard heater. If it gets cold I sleep with a nice comforter and then set the alarm for half an hour before I want to get out of bed. Reach over and turn on the Espar and the coffee pot and I'm ready to roll out of bed when the cab is toasty and the coffee's hot.

I have the Espar. It is both heat and cool air with a thermostat. Looking at the OP and it was a name that I have not seen for a long time.

+1 on the Arctic sleeping bag in case of breakdown. A -5 rated bag may not keep you toasty warm, but it will keep you alive at 20 below.

At first I thought he had just recovered from the mauling he got from Injun but then noticed the date.
